Pastor Arrested for diverting church funds to his personal project
A pastor in Christ Salvation zion church in Zhemegli Area of Nassarawa state, pastor Philip Uzochukwu has been arrested and will soon be paraded in court for diverting 8million naira meant for his church building project to his personal project.
According to a member of the church who pleaded to be anonymous, Pastor Uzochukwu has been in custody of the funds raised for the church building project since 1st January 2015, but could not provide the money when it was needed for execution of the project.
When his church members raised questions about it, he allegedly threatened them with his sermons.
After much delay and postponement of the church project, the church members decided to report the issue to the police in december 2016, but the police released him the following day.
This led to chaos in the church and activities were truncated in the church as most influential members in the church stayed back from activities. The members allegedly accused him of diverting the church funds to pay for personal luxuries.
Another member of the church said, ''He has completed his personal house project and he is feeding well with his family. He used the church money for his personal business."
The church members later filed a case demanding that the suspect should return their money. pastor Uzochukwu was friday re-arrested and will soon be paraded in court for a two count charge of money laundering and embezzlement of funds.
