The senate led by president, Dr. Bukola saraki has signed the peace corp establishment bill. The only clause left is the endorsement of the bill by the president. Dr. Saraki while passing the bill declared that the legislature has fulfilled a major promise as the bill has gone a long way in resolving the supremacy battle between the Nigerian police force and the peace corps.
According to saraki, the long journey has finally led the country to the promised land!
It can be recalled that the bill has lingered for a very long time and there have been feuds between the corp and the police force. The corp was given a nod by the national assembly when the bill was passed. Since then, there have been intermitent rift between the corp and the police force. It took a twist when the national commandant of the corps, Ambassador Dickson Akoh was arrested by the police and the DSS.
Indeed, this is victory for the youths and the youth based organisation!!
