Stray bullet from Army base hits a 5 year old on the head

The stray bullets, from the 2 Div headquarters has allegedly entered a private nursery/primary school which is located within the Ojoo axis of Akinyele local government of Oyo state and pierced through the head of a 5year old pupil who was sitting in a classroom in the company of his classmates in the school compound.

The 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan is currently holding her annual range classification.

Our reporters who visited the schools observed that the were bullet holes on the walls and the roof of the school and that the creche and other classrooms were affected but no other pupil was injured.

A source who is familiar with the community told our reporters that the school authorities pleaded for anonymity. He hinted that the indigenes of the community had earlier complained about the stray bullet issue to the military, but they were directed by the Army to tender valid evidences.

The General Officer Commanding, Maj Gen Chukwunedum Abraham, intimated that notice was earlier given out to people in the neighbouring communities about the 2017 range classification not to painic about sounds of gunshots.
He added that the distance between their base and the closest community is about 2000meters and that their range was tested within 300meters which is within their base. He ordered for investigations on the alleged case
