CHELSEA completed the signing of Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri yesterday.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League champions last night - for a reported fee of £18m.

It was believed Emerson, who represents the Italian national side despite being born in Brazil, would be joined at Stamford Bridge by Roma team-mate Edin Dzeko.

But that move seems to have fallen through after the Blues failed to agree personal terms with the former Manchester City striker.

Emerson featured 36 times for Roma last year and missed the first three months of this campaign with a knee injury.

And he was pictured signing for Antonio Conte’s side last night alongside Blues director Marina Granovskaia.
