Gun Men storm Catholic church in Anambra: Kills 11 worshippers

Gun men numbering up to 6 dressed in black stormed st. Philips's catholic church Amakwa-Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government Area of Anambra state during the early morning mass. An eye witness narrated that the Gun men went into the church, went straight to one Chief Akunwafor Ikegwuonwu and shot him dead. The gun man then went on a sporadic shooting spree which ended the lives of 11 worshippers.

The commisioner of police in Anambra state, Garba Baba Umar confirmed the incidence stating that 11 persons were killed and 18 injured. He said "We gathered that worshippers in the 6am mass were in thev service when the Gunmen entered the church, went straight to a particular direction and opened fire". The police commissioner also hinted that key figures in the community have been invited for interrogations. The police has launched a manu-hunt for the suspects, though no arrest has been made so far.
