Fabregas States Why Chelsea may not win the EPL this season
Chelsea and spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that Chelsea were given huge assist to the premier league title by not taking part in the UEFA champions league or the Europa Cup competition
The Blues stormed to the premier league title last term and also made it to the FA cup final. This time they have the UEFA champions league to play. Jamie Redknapp revealed that during the filming for A League Of Their Own he spoke to Fabregas, who was making an appearance on the TV show. The former Arsenal skipper admitted that the blues had an easy run to the premier league title last term as they had enough time to rest after each game thereby reducing the physical stress. Hence taking part in European football this term will be detrimental to the Blues.
‘On one side, you miss those big nights, but it makes such a difference because you are playing Saturday-Saturday, or Saturday-Sunday and you are getting a lot of rest. Whereas Chelsea now won’t get any rest and that’s why they need to thicken the squad up as you need those extra players in there.’There are concerns in the Blues Back room that the squad depth is not huge enough as they have sold Key midfielder Nemanja Matic to manchester United, John Terry and Nathan Ake have gone, Diego Costa is set to leave the Bridge and many of the youth players have departed the Blues on loan while some have been sold.
