Nigerian Army rescue kidnapped NNPC staff

The Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier general Sani Usman, has confirmed that the oil workers kidnapped by the dreaded Boko haram have been rescued.According to him, not less than 9 people lost their lives during the gun duel between the Nigerian Army troops and the Boko haram.

"So far all the NNPC staff have been rescued, though 1 civilian and 9 Soldiers lost their lives." Usman sani said.
The names of the slain soldiers were not revealed as at the time of compiling this report.

The release of the NNPC officials was confirmed by Zanna Modu, chairman of Magumeri Local Government Area,Bornu state.

A local government chairperson in Borno had earlier told journalists that seven people were rescued by the soldiers.

It was earlier reported that Geoscientists contracted by NNPC to carry out geophysical survey of the chad Basin were ambushed and abducted by the Boko haram terrorists who have caused recurrent insurgency in the North eastern region.
