Man sentenced to four years Jail term for stealing welding machines

A Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced 22-year-old Osaro Omoruyi, to four years Jail term without an option of fine for stealing welding machines and cables valued at N71, 000.

The offence commited by Osaro contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).

Osaro confessed to have broken the security lock and stolen the working tools as he cried out to the court for leniency,’’ Ihiehe said.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule Amzat, who handed down the verdict, narated that the court established that the suspect stole a welding machine, a grinding machine and some cables.

The prosecutor Ihiehe said the complainant, Rasaki Hassan, a welder, reported the incident at Ketu Police post.

Rasaki Hassan said that he received a phone call from a security guard informing him that Osaro has been caught stealing his welding machines at his workshop.

Osaro had successfully dismantled the machines and was on his way out when he was caught by the security guard.
